In January 2025 William Bailey Ltd were appointed by Nottingham University Hospitals Trust to undertake the Mechanical Services Design for a new Community Diagnostics Centre facility, which is part of a larger refurbishment scheme associated with the now defunct Nottingham Broadmarsh Shopping Centre. The section of the previous Broadmarsh Centre building that is to be re-acquisitioned and appropriated for the use of the new Diagnostics facility was once previously a series of individual A3 tenanted retail facilities. The completed facility will provide diagnostic testing including MRI, CT, X-Ray, Ultrasound, Echo, ECG, Cardiology Ambulatory and Respiratory Physiology alongside Phlebotomy Services and Support Spaces.
The refurbishment scheme comprises the design and incorporation of the following proposed new Mechanical Services infrastructure:
- Centralised Fresh Supply Air & Vitiated Extract Ventilation Air Handling Systems (c/w Heat Recovery)
- Centralised Chilled Water Services to provide general comfort cooling via Air Source Heat Pumps
- Centralised LTHW Heating via Air Source Heat Pumps
- Process Chilled Water via Chiller Units & intermediary CRAC Units to provide cooling to specialist MRS, X-Ray & CT Scan facilities
- Domestic Potable Hot and Cold Water Services
- Dedicated non-potable CAT-5 cold water supply
- Building Management System Control of the Mechanical & Electrical systems
